Melany Channeling her inner Aaliyah

It was all Melany's idea. The concept was all her, and it was perfect, as if it reflects her personality. This concept was inspired by Aaliyah's music video 4‑Page Letter because she loves the leather outfit. She pitched the idea to me, and I was on board right away. I love Aaliyah's music, her image, and her swag, so for me, this was a no‑brainer. A lot of people have tried to replicate her look and failed miserably. Melany did that and some. See for yourself.

We started under the hard lights of the subway—tiled walls, the rumble of trains, and a leather jacket that caught every glint. Melany didn't mimic; she inhabited the mood Aaliyah made famous: quiet confidence, understated edge.
