As an NYC engagement photographer, I build sessions that feel like you: a little direction when you want it, real moments when you forget the camera is there, and the city you love as a backdrop. Unlike a surprise proposal shoot, your engagement session is planned to your liking — we'll choose the right light, locations, and styling together.
The result is a gallery built for save-the-dates, wedding websites, invitations, and large prints — more detailed editing than a proposal session, print-ready from day one. Planning Your NYC Engagement Session
How the session flows
Your session is approximately 90 minutes. We'll confirm a plan on a quick consult, then meet at location one and either stay or move to a second spot if you'd like. Light direction and prompts keep things relaxed. You'll receive a sneak preview of 5–10 selects in 48–72 hours and a finished gallery of no fewer than 60 edited images within 10–14 days — high-resolution, download-ready, and print-ready.
Lighting & timing policy
To deliver the look you love, we'll align aesthetic with conditions. For a soft or airy feel, that means soft light — sunrise, golden hour, open shade, or suitable interiors. If your schedule only allows harsh midday and you still want that soft look, I'll recommend alternatives.
Engagement Session vs. Proposal Shoot
An engagement session is a planned portrait experience after the "yes." We choose flattering light, locations, outfits, and concepts that fit your vision — and I'll coordinate with your wedding planner so the look aligns with your stationery and website.
A proposal shoot is different: it's about secretly documenting the surprise moment. Many couples love proposal photos for the emotion, but most still want a separate engagement session for images intentionally styled for save-the-dates, invitations, and display-size prints.

NYC gives you endless backdrops. We'll pick spots that match your vibe — and your vision for how you'll use the photos. A second location is optional: we can do everything in one place, or add a nearby spot for variety.
Iconic, made personal
- Central Park (Bow Bridge, Bethesda Terrace/Fountain): classic, romantic, beautiful in every season. Best at sunrise for soft light and quiet paths.
- Brooklyn Bridge / DUMBO: cobblestones and skyline drama. Works dressy or casual. Early morning means fewer crowds.
- West Village / Greenwich Village: tree-lined brownstones and café corners. Timeless, editorial street portraits.
- Top of the Rock / Rockefeller Center area: sweeping skyline views and chic city energy (permits or tickets as needed).
Hidden gems & neighborhood love
- City Hall Park & side streets: greenery and historic architecture. Calm and elegant.
- Rooftops / terraces: modern, minimal, skyline-forward (private access or venue permissions apply).
- Bookstores, record shops, cozy cafés: intimate, story-driven frames. Great for winter or mid-day shade.
- Subway art and stations: urban texture and motion. A few frames between locations can be magic.

City Hall & the two-ceremony approach
City Hall currently accommodates up to four guests total including your photographer. That's why many couples choose a City Hall ceremony now, then plan a traditional celebration a few months later to include family and friends. I can photograph both — the legal "I do" at City Hall and the later wedding day — keeping the visual story cohesive across both milestones.

- Locations: 1–2 nearby NYC spots — a second location is optional, one is perfect if your concept calls for it
- Outfits: 1–2 looks
- Delivery: no fewer than 60 edited images in a high-resolution online gallery with download and print rights
- Editing: more detailed than proposal sessions — refined retouching and color finishing so images print beautifully for invitations and large prints
- Turnaround: full gallery in 10–14 days
- Sneak preview: 5–10 selects within 48–72 hours
- Weather: light rain-friendly; rescheduling to backup date for conditions beyond our control
